We strive to build a community of womxn focused on bridging the gap between knowledge and opportunity; where all womxn can learn, grow, and connect through their personal and professional journeys; and that empowers womxn to be strong, successful technological leaders.
NUGWC holds a technical workshop series over the fall and spring semesters that is aimed at exposing the members to various career opportunities in Computer Science. The Discovery Series offers an overview of popular industry areas such as biotech, ed-tech, fin-tech, and big-tech. The series also reviews industry best practices on technology, coding languages, networking tips, and interview preparation in order to supplement the educational and professional development of the members.
NUGWC hosts a range of networking events in partnership with employers and corporate sponsors. These events offer members avenues to build their network in firms and industries they are interested in and develop meaningful relationships and connections with recruiters and employees.
NUGWC facilitates internal social and networking opportunities for current and prospective members. We believe the greatest resource available to our community is the comradery of other members and alumni. These social events help foster connections for female technologists in both academia and industry and include painting, succulent planting, cookie decorating, and happy hour chats.
We provide a Microsoft Teams channel that is monitored and supported by our leadership team and other engaged members of the community for students to partner, practice, and collaborate on online competitive programming websites, such as LeetCode, Hacker Rank, and Hackathons to enhance their technical skillset in an informal manner.
